About Massage Therapist: Isabel Umali, LMT
Isabel knows first-hand how important the process of nervous system regulation is to the outcome of body therapy and aims to help people become more embodied and empowered in their own healing. Isabel works comfortably across mediums to utilize her orthopedic, deep tissue skills along with her trauma-informed verbal skills and craniosacral practice. Isabel encourages new proprioception and kinesthesia so that clients are more in tune with the regular function of their physical bodies and helps broaden interoception so that clients are conscious of their own nervous system regulation.
Education
Isabel graduated from Stillpoint in 2019 as a certified Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and from Pacific College of Health and Science as a licensed massage therapist in 2022. Isabel has since completed prenatal continuing education and has worked at Psoas Massage and Body Work, an orthopedic sports massage clinic. Isabel continues to bring her curiosity and education of the physical, moving body into her work.
Career
As a professional dancer for over a decade, and dancer her whole life, Isabel brings a unique skill set, knowledge of the physical moving body, and sensitivity to her body therapy. Her rigorous life makes her no stranger to injuries, injury prevention, and the demands of a high-performance career. Isabel sustained two concussions in her dance work which brought her as a client to biodynamic craniosacral therapy (BCST), and subsequently completed craniosacral and massage education. Isabel has interned at Womankind, an organization providing support for survivors of gender-based violence, where she utilized the trauma-informed verbal skills and practices learned in BCST. She also interned with the Joffrey Ballet School where she used an orthopedic approach for ballet dancers, teachers, and office-workers of all ages.
